What to expect:
Introduction and Improvement of Topspin Forehand and Backhand:
  • Basic topspin swing patterns will be taught and consolidated. Children will have the chance to hit many balls during their lesson to develop/improve upon all the technical skills to progress to a standard whereby they can play a game of tennis. We will be teaching the direction and depth of shots specific to certain areas of the court.
Slice Backhand:
  • Introduction to and improvement of the slice backhand.
Forehand and Backhand Volley:
  • Improvement of both the forehand and backhand volleys and the general technique.
Overhead Smash:
  • Introduction to and improvement of the overhead smash.
1 st and 2 nd Serve:
  • Improvement of the serve and clear understanding that it starts off a tennis point. Able to direct the serve crosscourt into a service box. Know the difference between a first serve and second serve. Learn the correct grip and technique for the serve. Learn how to aim the serve into certain areas of the box.
Rallying:
  • A large portion of the lesson will be rallying, which includes technical and tactical improvements of students’ game.
Scoring:
  • Students will learn how to score, 15, 30, 40, game etc. and be able to play a full set of tennis.
Tennis Etiquette:
  • All aspects of tennis etiquette will be taught.
Skills Progression:
Players will have the chance to:
  • Play tennis socially.
  • Play internal matches.
  • Play pennant competition matches.
  • Play tournaments.
  • Join the High Performance Tennis Group.
Who can join?
  • 12+ year olds.
  • Children aged 9+ who have progressed past the green ball level.
  • Squad lessons are aimed at students who can competently serve, rally and score.
How long does Yellow Ball Teenage 12+ last?
  • 60 minute group lessons.
  • 90 minute squad lessons.
How much does a session cost?
  • $210 for 10 weeks of 1 hour group lessons.
  • $260 for 10 weeks of 1.5 hour squad lessons.
What equipment do I need to play?
  • Receive a FREE junior tennis racquet when you first sign up for the term OR $20 discount in the pro-shop.
  • Trial racquets available.
  • We can advise you on correct racquet size and weight.
  • Comfortable Clothes.
  • Trainers/Tennis shoes.
  • Water bottle/Sports drink.
  • Towel.
  • Sunscreen available.
