Junior Tennis Coaching
We run a variety of tennis development programmes aimed specifically at kids from primary and secondary schools in the Mount Lawley, Bayswater and Morley areas. Led by Rhys McDougall, Director & Head Professional Tennis Coach at Playtennis, our team of professional tennis coaches have over 30 years experience in playing and coaching tennis at the very highest level.
The tennis programmes are endorsed by the Department of Education and recognised by Tennis West and Tennis Australia. There are two tennis programmes that we offer:

3 – 5 years
Tennis Coaching At School
At Playtennis we strongly believe that tennis is a game for everyone. That’s why we worked hard to establish a formal partnership with primary schools in the Morley, Dianella and Bayswater areas of Perth and local to Mount Lawley Tennis Club as part of the National Schools Partnership Program (NSPP). The focus of the NSPP is to create a long lasting partnership that will encourage all kids to experience tennis as part of the curriculum in their primary school.
ANZ Tennis Hotshots
The tennis coaching sessions have been developed by the ANZ Tennis Hot Shots program and are structured and fun. Kids progress through 4 stages: Blue, Red, Orange and Green. Guided by our qualified Tennis Australia coaches, kids are encouraged to develop at their own pace, moving on to the next stage when they are ready. PlayTennis is a recognised Tennis Australia Hotshots provider.
The kids are taught basic stroke technique right from the beginning which helps them to quickly and efficiently progress to playing actual games of tennis. The tennis programs use lower compression balls, smaller tennis racquets and in some cases smaller playing areas depending on the age and skill level of your child.
At Playtennis, we are passionate about providing a fun and positive tennis experience for everyone which should be enjoyed by all, regardless of ability, age or socioeconomic status.
So come along, join the fun and have a hit with us either at your school or at Mount Lawley Tennis Club.

ALL SKILLS AND AGES WELCOME
- If you start at the age of 3, you can progress naturally through the stages on offer.
- If you are older, with little or no tennis experience, or haven't played for a long time, you will find a comfortable entry point among other players of your age and skill level.
- All lessons below are taught at Mount Lawley Tennis Club.
- Click & Book.
- Our Junior Timetable is specifically designed to enable you to bring different ages of children to their tennis lesson at the same time, thus saving you valuable time!
- For ease of use we have labelled our groups with an age range, but we know that some children may be playing outside of these age boundaries. This, of course, can easily be facilitated.
- The ball colours relate to the increasing amount of pressure used in the tennis balls to enable children to learn and improve quickly.
