At PlayTennis we are proud to offer a wide variety of opportunity for the adult player. We welcome and encourage complete beginners and improvers but also competently and professionally guide intermediate, advanced and high performance players. You can benefit from regular group and private lessons at every ability. We also offer non-tennis players our Cardio Tennis workout which is an opportunity to gain all the benefits of a tennis player’s fitness and a great full body workout without the desire to play tennis.

A private tennis lesson is invaluable for every level of tennis player, whether it be a regular lesson or an occasional lesson. Focussed and tailored learning will quickly and effectively boost your tennis skills. We offer private lessons at a range of prices and for up to four people.

What is a Private Tennis Lesson?
  • A private tennis lesson can be delivered to either 1, 2, 3 or 4 students at a time.
  • Private lessons will, quite simply, improve your game, at a much faster rate.
Why Private Tennis Lessons?
  • We understand that private tennis lessons are an expensive luxury.
  • Your tennis CAN improve by undertaking group lessons.
  • But, our recommendation is that if you can stretch to a regular private lesson, your improvement will be rapid.
What to expect:
  • We can quickly ascertain and construct a style of play which is individual to you, enhances your strengths and compensates for your weaknesses whilst also targeting those weak areas until they are no longer so.
  • Each lesson will target the weaknesses and strengths that are particular to you.
  • If you are a beginning tennis player we will ensure that correct technique is taught from the very start.
  • This saves time and frustration in the future and guarantees continuous progression.
  • Private lessons provide you with the ability to learn with much greater repetition, with immediate one on one feedback and focussed planning.
  • Tennis is a skill, it takes time to learn, but you will have it for life.

Choosing a coach for yourself isn’t easy. Owner and Director at Playtennis, Rhys McDougall, has dedicated his life to playing tennis, teaching tennis, promoting tennis and helping young professionals become both players and coaches.

Rhys has all the regular credentials that a tennis coach ‘should’ have and a few others up his sleeve too!

Rhys:

  • Is qualified: Tennis Australia Coach & Lawn Tennis Association UK Coach.
  • Is screened: he has undergone and maintains a national ‘working with children’ check.
  • Is insured: he holds public liability and professional indemnity insurance for protection.
  • Has over 30 years of continuous coaching experience in Australia, UK, France.
  • Has coached every age and ability:
    • from age 2 to 92
    • from never having held a racquet to a Davis Cup Player.

  • Has represented Australia in the young senior’s team on 7 separate occasions.
  • Was team captain for the Australian young senior’s team.
  • Was a selector for Australian Young Seniors Teams for an allocated period of 3 years.
  • Is a family man; father of two girls (proven tolerance!).

DOUBLES STRATEGY GROUP CLINIC

Doubles Strategy Group Clinic is designed to improve a player’s skills specifically for doubles matches. This is a mixed gender group, aimed at intermediate to advanced players

  • You need to be able to hit both forehand and backhand shots from the baseline quite comfortably and continuously.
  • Most importantly, you should be comfortable playing at the net whilst an opponent may hit a ball strongly in your direction.
How much does a session cost?

FitBit CARDIO TENNIS

FitBit Cardio Tennis is a whole-body workout for everyone. Mix up your workout routine by adding high energy Cardio Tennis to your exercise program. No tennis skills required, this is an exercise class intended at anyone who wants to get fit, but we can promise that you’ll pick up a few skills along the way and also a set of tennis legs!

Mixed Beginners Group Clinic is a social group of supportive and friendly adults, some learning to play tennis, some returning tennis players and some ‘improver’ tennis players. You will be assigned a group of players at your level between complete beginner and almost intermediate.

You will be assigned a group of players at your level between complete beginner and almost intermediate.
Why Mixed Beginners Group Clinic?

  • You are either a complete beginner, early learner or improver but not quite yet intermediate.
  • You can learn in a none judgemental, ‘can do’ environment.
  • Make new friends.
  • Meet new rallying partners.

We mix up the activities to cater for all skill and fitness levels, so while it’s great for beginners, improver tennis players will be able to practise their acquired skills and become competent enough to play matches, join Adult Matchplay leagues and move on to the intermediate mixed group clinic.
